Halo 3 Cheating

Halo 3 online is great.  However, it sucks at the same time.  Being able to get a multiplayer game at any time is a good thing, but the XBox Live players make it horrible.  Even on the "social" playlists, I always end up playing against people with a "win at all costs" attitude.  The most annoying players that I run into on the social playlists are the ones who go into skirmish matches (no teams) with a buddy along under a guest account.  Then the buddy proceeds to do nothing but help the main person win.  Last night, I was playing a game of oddball, where you have to hold on to a skull for a set amount of time to win the match.  I was winning for about half the match until one guy got the skull.  His buddy met up with him and did nothing to try and get the skull away.  In fact, all he did was defend his buddy, so no one else could try and get the skull from him.  When the main guy died, he still didn't take the skull, he just kept defending it until the main guy could come get it back.  If this were a team game, that would be absolutely fine, but it was't a team game, it was a free-for-all match.  I wish people like this would just play in the team playlists if they want to be a team.  However, they won't do it, because they value winning, even in a supposed social environment, over having fun and playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

At least Halo 3 has added a way for players like me to block being matched up with players like that ever again.  Unfortunately, with so many players out there, the likelihood of ever playing that same person is very low, so it isn't like there's a real punishment for them.  Of course, I don't have to play against these people again, but it's irritating that they are still out there, doing this repeatedly to others.  Hopefully Bungie will get enough reports on people like this, and will start doing something about it.  They were pretty good with it with Halo 2, so there's always a chance.
