Okay, so welcome to my blog. This blog is going to be more of a personal thing. My goal here is to write about various things that intrigue, irritate, or interest me.
Since this is my first post, I figured the best thing to do is just tell you about me, if you don't already know me. I'm 28 years old, live in Brookfield, Wisconsin, with my wife of 6 years, Erin, and her menagerie of 20+ animals. I write software to make my money, focusing mostly on website system architecture and development, but I've been known to pound out some Windows applications as well. My true passion regarding software is usability, so my long term goal is to find or create a position, where I'm doing that kind of work on a daily basis.
In my free time, I play a lot of Ultimate with the Milwaukee Ultimate Club, and I also help organize the leagues regularly as well. I also enjoy games of all sorts (board, card, video), photography, reading, and watching/playing just about any sport. My favorite sports to watch, in order, are football, baseball, college basketball, and college hockey. My favorite sports to play are ultimate, basketball, and softball/baseball, even though I rarely get to play the last two anymore.
I've also always enjoyed writing, which is really why I'm doing this. I've always had this dream in my head of becoming a published author, but I've never been able to convince myself to do it. I guess the biggest problem I've had is deciding what kind of writing I want to do. One day, I want to write fiction, the next, it's non-fiction of some sort. Then sometimes, it's writing something like a newspaper column. It's those times that always brings me back to the blog concept, because I truly believe that the newspaper as we know it is a dying art form, and I believe that the blog is where columnists are going to end up, but that's a post for another time. I've been in one of those latter moods for a while now, and I had already set myself up with this nice, wonderful site using Community Server for all of my photos, so I figured it was time to start writing. My goal right now is posts once a week on Sundays, so you can just schedule this site for your Monday morning browse-fest and you should be fine. I'm going to keep this up until I run out of things to say, and if you know me at all personally, you know that will be a while, so I hope you'll continue to join me.
